In the open class category, the traditional approach is to produce a machine with maximum horsepower numbers. BMW plays a different game, instead opting to keep practicality firmly on the list of important design features. With a self imposed 100bhp limit, and gobs of torque, the engine was easy to use, and the chasis was up to BMW's usual standards. It certainly didn't set the world on fire, but it didn't have to. BMW had the new 1100cc opposed twin engine to show off....
