BMW R75/5

By it's introduction in 1970 the world was getting used to it's new order. Honda had revolutionized the motorcycle industry with its 4 cylinder CB750, leaving many manufacturers struggling with old designs. It was perilous, as it turned out for many, to try to continue with traditional designs. BMW took note, and did what they could. The /5 featured electric starting, and was much lighter than its predecessors. It had some problems with the carbs, the too small battery, and weak starter, but it was a good effort, and led to the improved /6 and /7.
Power in 1969 was 57bhp, with a curb weight of 436lb's.
