HONDA CB1000, 1993-1995
The CB1000 was spawned by the desire for 'naked' sportbikes in Japan, especially when they resemble superbike race machines from the 1970's and early 1980's. Honda used the liquid cooled engine from the CBR1000F. Milder camshafts changed the power characteristics, and it actually lost 15bhp in the process. Honda put the engine into a Freddie Spencer inspired chassis, with styling to match. As the CB1000 was seen as a 'top end' machine, finish and detailing are of a very high standard. The riding position is fairly racey, with low bars and rearward set pegs. As it was designed primarily as a 'sportbike', the only downfall is the shortage of ponies. Weight is 540lb's, power is 97bhp@8250rpm, and torque is 66ft/lbs@5750rpm.
