HONDA VFR800, 1998-01
Continuing the ongoing 'refinement' of the VFR, the new 800 received a host of revisions. Engine work included moving the geared cam drive system to the outside, new cylinder sleeves and, of course, fuel injection. A new 'pivotless' frame, and the inclusion of Honda's 'Linked braking system' rounded out the major improvements. Naturally power was up and weight was down when compared to its predecessor. The improvements made for a much better VFR. Handling was very taut and responsive, giving a new level of confidence to the rider. Some sacrifices were made to comfort however, with a slightly harsher ride and a more forward riding position. Overall, the VFR continues its reputation as a very classy Motorcycle. Power in 1998 was 94.7bhp@10500rpm, with torque of 54.1ft/lb's@8500rpm. Wet weight was 517lb's
