KAWASAKI H1 500, 1969-1976
|
Kawasaki had been working on the H1 since 1967. Their goal was simply to put together a machine with the highest power-to-weight ratio possible, that could storm through the quarter mile and fit right in with the muscle cars of the day. The H1 was for the power hungry American market where riding by on the back wheel was more important than being able to turn. The H1, and to a slightly lesser degree, the H2 750, suffered from hideous handling traits. Tank slappers were a regular occurance, and the rider had to be brave to attempt corners at any decent speed. The brakes were also somewhat suspect, adding to the bikes unruly reputation. The Kawasaki Triples have never been forgotten. Many examples still exist, and they've built up quite a large following. Even back when the bike was new, many of the magazines ran articles on how to fix, or at least improve, some of the shortcomings. Riding the H1 was always an experience, which is why the demand for them continues to grow.
Power was 60bhp@7500rpm, with torque of 42.3ft/lb's@7000rpm. Wet weight was 425lb's

"Just a short note to tell you how much I have enjoyed my download of your Test Reports complilation. I've spent the last two days doing little else. Making them available in the Adobe/PDF download format is pure genius. Thanks again for a great product. I'll definitely be back."
