KAWASAKI KLR650, 1987+
The KLR650 is a compromise bike, designed to fill many roles. It can play in the dirt, then ride home afterwards. Many KLR's are used to cover some pretty large distances, and, as far as dual purpose bikes go, it is certainly amongst the most comfortable. It has a large tank and a wide seat, electric start and compliant suspension. Vibration is kept fairly low by use of rubber mounts for the engine and pegs. The engine itself has remained largely unchanged, and has proven to be reliable. The only real shortcoming is the lack of serious stopping power. The small discs and single pot calipers struggle to do the job. Because the KLR has been around for so long, there are many aftermarket accessories available. Wet weight is 398lb's
