SUZUKI GSXR600, 1997-2000
Suzuki had made a bit of a blunder with their GSXR600 of 92/93. It was overweight and underpowered, and didn't steal the hearts of too many 600cc fans. Suzuki was clearly determined not to make the same mistake again, and focused firmly on the racetrack during the design of the 1997 GSXR600. The design didn't make too many concessions to real world rideability and comfort, instead following the lead of earlier GSXR's, Ducati's 916 etc, which were sold in large numbers thanks to looks and race track performance. On the track, the Suzuki was the class leader. Some changes were made in 1998 to smooth out the power curve and refine the whole package.

Power in 1998 was 93.1bhp, with torque of 46.1ft/lb's. Wet weight was 440lb's.
