SUZUKI INTRUDER 1500, 1998+
It would appear that Suzuki's on-going philosophy to the open class cruiser market is to provide a machine that is a great looker, with a strong engine. Considerations for handling and ergonomics would appear to take a back seat. The engine, based on the Intruder 1400 unit, was smooth, powerful and torquey, thanks to the offset crank pin design. Performance wise, the big Intruder lagged behind its predecessor, mostly because of its 100lb+ weight gain. Steering however, was much improved. When pushed, the big Intruder found it all too easy to touch down, even in everyday, around town riding situations. Power in 1998 was 52.9bhp, with torque of 73.5ft/lb's. Wet weight was 701lb's.
