SUZUKI KATANA 1100, 1988+
Introduced in 1988, the Katana 1100 made use of the incredible GSXR1100 motor, re-tuned to more suit it's new duties. The first year of production was a bit of a shakedown year, and the machine suffered from some problems with its suspension and with engine vibration. Suzuki cleared up the problems by the 1989 model year, and the Katana took up its position as a valid challenger to Honda's CBR1000 and the almighty Yamaha FJ1200. As a sport tourer, the big Katana was pretty well equiped. The fairing was relatively ineffectual, and the riding position somewhat cramped, but the impressive handling and power compensated nicely.

Power in 1989 was 101.7bhp@9000rpm, with torque of 66.4ft/lb's@7000. Wet weight was 602lb's.
